Sign Up Deadline: Wednesday, March 5th

Create your very own illuminated art object! In this three day workshop students will learn the basics of lighting design and how to wire for traditional light sockets. We will start the class by creating paper models that will be transformed into lighted sculptures that can take the form of a wall sconce or pendant light. The class will cover basic metal forming, soldering, and brazing to fabricate forms. Students will leave class with one of their very own lighted sculptures.

Prerequisite: Metals + Jewelry 1 or equivalent experience.

$590 (includes a $50 materials fee)

Students are responsible for providing their own metal for this workshop. Students should bring a minimum of 6 x 6 in 20 gauge copper, brass, or steel.

Tuition and fees for classes at the Baltimore Jewelry Center are subsidized in large part by grants and contributions from our community. The rate that we charge for each class covers only 60% of the true cost to run the class. In an effort to more equitably fund our classes and encourage more donations to subsidize our programs, we are now pricing classes on a sliding scale. If you are able to do so, please consider paying a higher rate for your class. The difference you pay will be considered a donation and you will be issued a donation receipt.
