In this workshop, students will expand upon their existing wax working skills, and further develop them by utilizing more sophisticated techniques. Students will learn to carve forms in wax that incorporate hinges, clasps, and other mechanisms in wax. Students will learn both additive and subtractive means of working in wax, including carving, sculpting and heat working. This 2-day workshop will be focused solely on waxworking, no casting will take place as part of the workshop, but students with casting experience can speak with a studio manager about scheduling a casting after the workshop.

Tuition and fees for classes at the Baltimore Jewelry Center are subsidized in large part by grants and contributions from our community. The rate that we charge for each class covers only 60% of the true cost to run the class. In an effort to more equitably fund our classes and encourage more donations to subsidize our programs, we are now pricing classes on a sliding scale. If you are able to do so, please consider paying a higher rate for your class. The difference you pay will be considered a donation and you will be issued a donation receipt.
