Unconventional Materials (Online)

Charity Ridpath | Tuesdays | 6:00 - 9:00pm EST | February 18 - March 11

Unconventional materials offer limitless possibilities to push creative boundaries. Think everyday items like office supplies, discarded objects, textiles, natural finds, or even industrial components. Incorporating these unexpected materials into your work invites experimentation, adds surprise, and transforms the way you approach design.

In this four-week online course, you'll uncover new sources of inspiration and dive into the creative potential of unconventional materials. Learn how to:

  • Identify materials that spark your curiosity.
  • Experiment with manipulation techniques to shape and transform your finds.
  • Explore the deeper meaning of your materials to create designs and compositions with intention.

Through engaging presentations, hands-on demonstrations, and open discussions, this class offers an accessible yet thought-provoking way to expand your creative process.

This class welcomes all levels of experience! Whether you’re:

  • New to Jewelry or Art and excited to explore unique materials,
  • A Traditional Artist eager to add unconventional elements to your work, or
  • An Experienced Maker seeking fresh perspectives,
you’ll find inspiration and new approaches here.

No special purchases required! You'll be encouraged to work with what you already have, making this class both practical and resourceful.
