In this six week course, students will learn foundational techniques in Rhino to design templates that can then be utilized for piercing, modular work, and other jewelry making processes. Participants will learn how to eliminate redundant processes through combining the functionality of different digital fabrication programs. Students will complete the course with a self-designed template they can integrate into their artistic practices and the skills to make more templates. This is a perfect class for those who want to refresh their digital design skills, get an introduction to digital design skills, design patterns for piercing and piece work, design patterns for etching, and make elements for production work, among other things! No prior experience necessary.
No experience necessary. A laptop computer that can run Rhino 8 is required.
Students will need an internet connection as this class will be taught online via Zoom.
Tuition and fees for classes at the Baltimore Jewelry Center are subsidized in large part by grants and contributions from our community. The rate that we charge for each class covers only 60% of the true cost to run the class. In an effort to more equitably fund our classes and encourage more donations to subsidize our programs, we are now pricing classes on a sliding scale. If you are able to do so, please consider paying a higher rate for your class. The difference you pay will be considered a donation and you will be issued a donation receipt.
