Metals + Jewelry 3
Andy Lowrie | Thursdays | 6:30 - 10:00 pm | September 11 - December 4*
*No class November 27th
This course builds on skills learned in Metals + Jewelry 1 and 2 with a focus on metalsmithing and fabrication skills. Greater emphasis is placed on applying formal design concepts and expanding the student's personal imagery. Students will increase and refine their soldering and finishing skills, and learn more advanced technical skills such as basic forming, hinges, clasps, and marriage of metals. At the conclusion of this course, students are prepared to work more independently and move on to more advanced classes. Prerequisite: Metals + Jewelry 1 or equivalent experience is required. Metals + Jewelry 2 (or Perfecting) is suggested but not required.
$550 (includes a $50 materials fee)
Tuition and fees for classes at the Baltimore Jewelry Center are subsidized in large part by grants and contributions from our community. The rate that we charge for each class covers only 60% of the true cost to run the class. In an effort to more equitably fund our classes and encourage more donations to subsidize our programs, we are now pricing classes on a sliding scale. If you are able to do so, please consider paying a higher rate for your class. The difference you pay will be considered a donation and you will be issued a donation receipt.
