Lights On: Lamp Making

Create your very own illuminated art object! Students will learn the basics of lighting design and how to wire for traditional incandescent bulbs. We will start the class by creating paper models that will be transformed into metal lighted forms, such as a pendant light or small table lamp. The class will cover basic metal forming, soldering, and brazing to fabricate forms. Students will leave class with one of their very own lighted sculptures.

Materials kit provided. Registration includes a $50 materials fee. Students are responsible for providing their own metal for this workshop. Students should bring a minimum of 6 x 6 in 20 gauge copper, brass, or steel
Tuition and fee for classes at the Baltimore are subsidized in large part by grants and contributions from our community. The rate that we charge for each class covers only 60% of the true cost to run the class. In an effort to encourage more donations and subsidize our programs, we are now pricing classes on a sliding scale. If you are able to do so, please consider paying a higher rate for your class. The difference you pay will be considered a donation and you will be issued a donation receipt.
