Enameling With Silver Foil
Andy Lowrie | Saturday & Sunday | 9:30 am - 4:00 pm | August 14 + 15
Signup Deadline: July 29
In this class, students will learn how to incorporate silver foil into vitreous enamel surfaces. In enamel, especially when working with transparent colors, the use of silver can increase the vibrancy and reflectivity of a piece. Silver foil can be used to cover copper, draw attention to a specific area and apply images and patterns to enamel. All of these approaches, including how to work with transparent enamel, will be covered in this class. Silver foil is a cost effective alternative to work with solid silver - a useful option for any enamelist.
No experience necessary. Materials kit provided. Registration includes a $50 materials fee.
Tuition and fees for classes at the Baltimore Jewelry Center are subsidized in large part by grants and contributions from our community. The rate that we charge for each class covers only 60% of the true cost to run the class. In an effort to more equitably fund our classes and encourage more donations to subsidize our programs, we are now pricing classes on a sliding scale. If you are able to do so, please consider paying a higher rate for your class. The difference you pay will be considered a donation and you will be issued a donation receipt.
