Etching adds depth and texture to jewelry and metal objects by allowing an exciting variety of surfaces to be produced. In this one-day workshop students will explore the modern process of electrolytic etching. Various techniques and applications, including photo, transfer, and free-form etching, will be covered. Patinas and surface treatments to enhance etched surfaces will be explored as well. No experience necessary.
Participants should come prepared with digital files of high resolution (300 dpi or greater) images and or patterns to use in the etching process. Please bring a couple of different options. All other materials provided.
$190 (includes $25 materials fee)
Tuition and fees for classes at the Baltimore Jewelry Center are subsidized in large part by grants and contributions from our community. The rate that we charge for each class covers only 60% of the true cost to run the class. In an effort to more equitably fund our classes and encourage more donations to subsidize our programs, we are now pricing classes on a sliding scale. If you are able to do so, please consider paying a higher rate for your class. The difference you pay will be considered a donation and you will be issued a donation receipt.
