Steel for Jewelry

Elliot Keeley I Thursdays I 6:30 – 10:00pm I January 8 - March 26

Steel for Jewelry - This course explores the use of steel as a compelling material in jewelry design. Students will learn to combine steel with precious metals using gold and silver solder for both construction and surface embellishment. The pulse arc welder will be introduced for precise wire welding and fabrication, ideal for building linear structures, armatures, forms, and more. Emphasis will be placed on working cleanly with mixed metals and expanding your material vocabulary. Prerequisite: Metals + Jewelry 1 or equivalent experience.

Tuition and fees for classes at the Baltimore Jewelry Center are subsidized in large part by grants and contributions from our community. The rate that we charge for each class covers only 60% of the true cost to run the class. In an effort to more equitably fund our classes and encourage more donations to subsidize our programs, we are now pricing classes on a sliding scale. If you are able to do so, please consider paying a higher rate for your class. The difference you pay will be considered a donation and you will be issued a donation receipt.

$525 (includes a $25 materials fee)
