Intermediate Vitreous Enamel

Andy Lowrie | Mondays | 6:30 - 10:00 pm | August 4 - August 25

In this class, you will learn how to apply enamel to 3D forms. To develop this skill, you will create dimensional forms in copper using simple dapping, sinking and pressing processes. You will then learn how to accurately apply and fire enamel to both sides of the shaped copper. The class will cover how to adhere enamel to the copper and how to keep it in place for firing. Potential results from this process are small bowls, pendants and brooch forms. Students will be encouraged to try opaque and transparent colors.

Tuition and fees for classes at the Baltimore Jewelry Center are subsidized in large part by grants and contributions from our community. The rate that we charge for each class covers only 60% of the true cost to run the class. In an effort to more equitably fund our classes and encourage more donations to subsidize our programs, we are now pricing classes on a sliding scale. If you are able to do so, please consider paying a higher rate for your class. The difference you pay will be considered a donation and you will be issued a donation receipt.
