Beading: Peyote Stitch
Stevie Pniewski | Saturdays | 10:00am - 1:30 pm | June 6 - 27
This 4-week class is an introduction to a fundamental bead-weaving technique, the Peyote stitch! Techniques taught in class include even and odd count, tubular peyote, and designing original patterns and imagery. Students will familiarize themselves with the history of bead-weaving and peyote stitch, exploring both ancient and modern objects and jewelry. Cold connection methods for turning samples and small weavings into brooches and pendants will be discussed. Students should expect to leave class with an understanding of creating their own patterns, a few samples, and a finished tubular peyote bracelet or other piece of peyote beaded jewelry.

Tuition and fees for classes at the Baltimore Jewelry Center are subsidized in large part by grants and contributions from our community. The rate that we charge for each class covers only 60% of the true cost to run the class. In an effort to more equitably fund our classes and encourage more donations to subsidize our programs, we are now pricing classes on a sliding scale. If you are able to do so, please consider paying a higher rate for your class. The difference you pay will be considered a donation and you will be issued a donation receipt.
